Last night, America sent a message…
We told the rest of the world:
-The majority of Americans DID NOT elect a foolish man into office (TWICE) just because we “wanted to have a beer with him” or because we were scared…we allowed an energetic, extremist, and vociferous minority to do so through our disengagement, and we’re not allowing them to have their way again.
-The majority of Americans DO NOT respond to fearmongering and slander.
-The majority of Americans ARE READY for a non-white President.
-The majority of Americans DO believe that our image in the world and the friendships we once had with other countries are important.
-The majority of Americans ARE NOT single issue voters.
-The majority of Americans DO NOT simply wish to repeat our recent mistakes.
And we told that energetic, extremist, vociferous, and generally misinformed segment of our population:
-YOU are NOT the majority.
-YOU may realize that electing a foolish President was a mistake, but your willingness to elect a new President based on the same misconceptions that led you to choose the foolish one…we OPPOSE IT.
-YOU represent the wealthiest 5%, and ignore the rest…while trying to obtain the vote of the 95% through deceiving them into thinking you are like them, and by playing to their prejudices and fears. WE are NOT fooled by this.
-WE will NOT tolerate elected leaders who deceive us, violate ethical standards, and undermine the Constitution.
-WE do NOT elect men and women to office with the understanding that they will line their pockets and fill the coffers of their friends.
-WE will resist your attempts to keep America from become the even greater nation that it could become through your frightened and defeatist attitude towards progress.
-WE reject your racial, religious, and “family values-based” intolerance.
-WE reject your notion that all diplomacy occurs through the use of force.
-WE do not share your indefensible reluctance to elect a President who is intelligent, educated, and worldly.
Most importantly:
-WE extend YOU this opportunity to be a part of the OUR America. Please abandon your need to define it in your terms, to shape it in your image. Please abandon your need to create division and to define groups that you are “better than.” Please come to accept that you ARE ONLY PART of its great diversity, which also happens to be one of its greatest strengths. Reality…what this site seeks to defend…is not limited to what you say it is. REALITY IS.
Get to know the reality of America. Meet people of different races…different faiths…different lifestyles. Learn…discuss…research…understand.
Because WE….people of all kinds and creeds (not just “two kinds” or “us and them”)….people holding many different beliefs and views, some liberal, some conservative, some moderate…WE are AMERICA.
