Sigh…I guess I hoped in vain that the election would result in seeing LESS of Governor Palin. Apparently in an attempt to redefine what an “exclusive interview” is, Palin has been granting them at the rate of about two per day. I halfway expect to see her on Access Hollywood, or perhaps she’ll audition for American Idol.
And if a notice was sent out stating that the election was over, and lost by the Republicans in part because of excessive negative campaigning on issues people DON’T CARE ABOUT…Sarah didn’t get it. It must not have been reported in any of the MULTITUDE of newspapers she reads. How odd.
In just the last few days she has taken the following parting shots at President-elect Obama:
-Today, at the Republican Governors Meeting in Miami, Sarah Palin put forth that governors make, “tough decisions to best serve the people who hire us. And we are held accountable every day. The buck stops on our desk. We are not just one of many voting yea or nay or present. No. There is no present button in our office, is there? We have to make the tough decisions.” Nothing says “smartass sore loser” like a sarcastic quip revealing both your ignorance of the voting record and the responsibilities of our federal legislators, while at same time trying to desperately defend your experience running a state no more populated or complex than Memphis, Tennessee. Of course, that’s not really a fair comparison…people in Memphis can’t see Russia and that makes all the difference.
-At the same RGA convention she delivered…wait for it…one of her stock “stump” speeches from the campaign trail, causing some bewilderment among reporters who, at this point, had already heard the speech countless times. Jonathan Capehart told MSNBC’s David Shuster, “I watched her entire speech, and I had to remind myself that the election was a week ago, and this was not a McCain/Palin rally…Everything you heard at a McCain/Palin rally since she was selected as the Vice Presidential nominee since September, and even down to the same rhetoric was in that speech.” Jonathan Martin described the speech as “jarring” and “perplexing.”
-In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Palin indicated that she’s just not ready to let go of the William Ayers issue: “It would be my honor to assist and support our new president and the new administration, yes,” and then added, “I still am concerned about that association with Bill Ayers. And if anybody still wants to talk about it, I will, because this is an unrepentant domestic terrorist who had campaigned to blow up, to destroy our Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol. That’s an association that still bothers me. And I think it’s still fair to talk about it. However the campaign is over. That chapter is closed. Now is the time to move on and to, again, make sure that all of us are doing all that we can to progress this nation.”
Here’s the clip:
-Added note about Ayers: Friday’s Good Morning America will feature an exclusive (you know, the old fashioned kind where only one show has it) interview between William Ayers and GMA’s Chris Cuomo. Might be worth watching…
I find it hard enough to believe that some people seem to think, given all that we know, that Governor Palin is a viable Presidential candidate for 2012…it’s even harder when she so clearly learned NOTHING from the loss she suffered just this month.
